Micronutrients and orthomolecular medicine
What this is
Micronutrients are vitamins, minerals, trace elements and amino acids, the building blocks your metabolism works with. Orthomolecular medicine is about balancing those building blocks in a targeted way. The most important part is not the preparation but the measurement that comes before it.

Our principle
Measure rather than guess. We do not recommend preparations on a hunch, and no combinations that everyone gets.
What is supplemented follows from your results, your diet and your load, and is checked again after a while.

Questions about this service
Frequently asked
Can't I just take a multivitamin?
You can, you just will not know whether you are supplementing what you actually lack. Some substances also compete for the same absorption pathways, so too much can get in each other's way. That is why, with us, measurement comes first.
Is more always better?
No. Some micronutrients are stored and can become a burden at high doses. Targeted, time-limited supplementation makes more sense than permanent and blanket.
Do you sell supplements at the practice?
We give recommendations. The reason is a clinical one: micronutrient preparations react to oxygen and keep only so long. So you get the recommendation that matches your results from us, and you buy the preparation fresh from the manufacturer.
Do I need to fast before the blood draw?
For the micronutrient analysis, yes. Please eat nothing in the eight hours before the draw. Water and unsweetened tea are fine, and you are welcome to drink plenty of both, coffee and juice are not. Do tell us beforehand if you take any supplements. Some of them need to be paused a few days in advance for your results to mean anything. We go through this with you when the appointment is booked.

What patients often look for here as well
Blood diagnostics and health check
A blood panel shows connections you cannot see from the outside: where inflammation markers stand, how your metabolism is working, whether important nutrients are missing. We do not turn to laboratory analysis only when a therapy stalls, often we use it from the start, as a second pillar alongside treatment.
→ServiceGut and microbiome analysis
The gut hosts a vast number of bacteria involved in digestion, nutrient absorption and the regulation of the immune system. A microbiome analysis gives an impression of that population and indicates whether, and where, to start.
→ServiceInfusion medicine
In infusion therapy, nutrients are given directly into the bloodstream. That makes sense when absorption through the gut is limited or when a targeted, short-term replenishment is the aim. With us it always begins with a conversation and, where the question calls for it, a laboratory test, we do not compose an infusion without knowing why.
