Osteopathy in Hamburg
What this is
Osteopathy treats the body as one connected system. Instead of treating only the painful spot, it looks for restrictions in movement that cause complaints elsewhere. Examination and treatment are done exclusively with the hands.

Frequently asked
Will my health insurer pay for osteopathy?
There is no contract between us and your insurer, so the invoice comes directly to you. Many statutory funds do, however, contribute voluntarily towards osteopathic treatment, and we meet the professional requirements they set. How much they contribute, and for how many sessions a year, differs from fund to fund. One point decides it: most funds require a doctor's recommendation, and it has to be issued before the first treatment. So ask your fund first what applies to you, and get that confirmation before you come to us. Then you are set. Private insurers and Beihilfe, the German civil-servant health subsidy scheme, reimburse to differing degrees depending on your tariff. Either way you receive an invoice from us that you can submit.
How does osteopathy differ from chiropractic?
Chiropractic works above all on joint dysfunction of the spine, often with short, targeted impulses. Osteopathy takes a broader approach and includes tissue, fascia and internal connections. With us the two flow into one another.
Is the treatment painful?
Usually not. Some techniques are briefly uncomfortable when irritated tissue is treated. The day after, you may feel something like muscle soreness, that is normal and passes quickly.

What patients often look for here as well
Sports osteopathy
Sports osteopathy combines a precise osteopathic examination with a thorough understanding of movement, load and athletic performance. The point is not only to treat a single complaint but to find the connections across the whole movement system. In sport, what matters is how well the body takes load, compensates for it and recovers from it. That is where sports osteopathy comes in.
