Dry needling in Hamburg
What this is
Dry needling is a targeted treatment of tense muscle using very fine needles. Unlike acupuncture, it does not work along meridians but directly at the myofascial trigger point, the spot in the muscle that produces the pain. The needle releases the tension without any medication being used. That is exactly what "dry" means.

Over ten years in Hamburg
Yannick Lambrecht was one of the first to offer dry needling in Hamburg.
He trained internationally, with Jan Dommerholt in the USA, and in Switzerland, Australia and Japan, and has been teaching it himself for more than a decade. What is done here is not an add-on that arrived at some point.

Questions about this service
Frequently asked
Does dry needling hurt?
The needles are much finer than injection needles and are barely felt on insertion. When the trigger point is reached there is usually a brief pulling sensation or a visible twitch of the muscle. Most patients describe it as easy to tolerate. In the hours afterwards the spot can feel like muscle soreness.
Is it the same as acupuncture?
No. Both use similar needles, but follow completely different logic. Acupuncture follows traditional Chinese medicine and its meridians. Dry needling follows Western anatomy and targets a specific point in the muscle that is clinically conspicuous.
What is IMES?
Intramuscular electrical stimulation, the needle combined with a very weak current. This can help additionally with stubborn tension and chronic complaints. Whether it makes sense is something we decide after the examination.
How many treatments will I need?
A change is often noticeable after the first session. For complaints that have existed for longer we plan several appointments and combine the needling with manual therapy and training, on its own it rarely lasts.
Are there reasons not to do it?
Yes, certain clotting disorders, blood-thinning medication, acute infections or a needle phobia, for example. We ask about these before the first treatment.

→ServiceSports osteopathy
Sports osteopathy combines a precise osteopathic examination with a thorough understanding of movement, load and athletic performance. The point is not only to treat a single complaint but to find the connections across the whole movement system. In sport, what matters is how well the body takes load, compensates for it and recovers from it. That is where sports osteopathy comes in.
