Knee clinic in Hamburg
The knee is a sensitive joint that is rarely the sole culprit. Very often the cause lies in the hip, in the foot, or in muscle control that never fully returned after an old injury. So we do not examine only the knee.
How it works
History, clinical examination with the established stability and meniscus tests, assessment of leg alignment and muscle control, interpretation of any imaging you have.
Then the plan: treatment, rebuilding, and for athletic goals a test before returning to full load.
Acute clinic
Knee swollen after the match? Write to us.
A locked back, a stiff neck, a twisted ankle or a fresh sports injury: register or send us an enquiry. We also treat outside regular hours, and urgent enquiries are handled at the weekend too.
Questions about this clinic
Frequently asked
How long does rehab take after a cruciate ligament tear?
Rebuilding usually spans several months and follows measurable criteria, not the calendar: strength comparison of both sides, jump and landing tests, changes of direction under fatigue. Only when those values are right do we recommend a return to competitive sport.
Does a meniscus tear always need surgery?
No. A proportion of meniscus findings respond well to conservative treatment, especially degenerative changes without locking. Whether surgery makes sense is for the doctor to decide, we help you weigh the question and work with specialist doctors to do so.
My knee hurts going down stairs. What's behind that?
Often an overload of the extensor mechanism or poor tracking of the kneecap. The cause frequently lies in the hip muscles or in foot position. That is exactly what we look at in the examination, rather than treating only the knee.

What usually goes with it
Post-operative rehabilitation
After an operation, the aftercare decides the outcome at least as much as the procedure itself. We accompany you on that path from the first appointment after discharge to the point where you can fully load your leg or your shoulder again.
→ServiceReturn to Sport and Return to Performance
The stretch between "it doesn't hurt any more" and "it holds up in competition". It is the part most often skipped, and the reason many injuries come back. We close it with measurable criteria, not a gut feeling.
→ServiceReturn-to-sport testing
With test batteries we developed ourselves, we check strength, jump performance, landing control, changes of direction and differences between sides under real load. That shows objectively how much load your body can already take.
→ServiceAthletic training
Athletic training makes you more resilient, faster and more resistant to injury. It is built around the movement patterns of your sport, not around a machine, and it starts with an assessment, not an off-the-shelf plan.
→ServiceFunctional Assessment
A structured examination of your body for stability, mobility and flexibility, not at a single joint, but across the whole movement chain. We see which areas are doing work that really belongs elsewhere. That is exactly where overload develops, often long before it hurts.
→ServiceSports diagnostics and movement analysis
Objective values instead of impressions. We capture strength, stability and movement quality in a way that can be compared again later.
→AreaFunctional Medicine
Some complaints cannot be treated away. Targeted laboratory diagnostics can point to connections the hands cannot find: inflammatory processes, micronutrient deficiencies, a metabolism that has slipped out of rhythm.
→AreaRehabilitation
Back to full load-bearing capacity, not just to being free of pain. From the first day after surgery through to the return to sport.
→The team
All our therapists treat the full spectrum, physiotherapy, manual therapy, rehabilitation and medical training. So you can rely on being in good hands with every one of them.
